Q: We recently installed a new sink (porcelain) in our rental house. It was the top of the line and expensive. Yesterday I noticed two cracks coming from the drain. They are not all the way through but a little deeper than surface. Can these be repaired? If not, will the sink leak?
A: If it's a porcelain sink there is a slight chance that a leak could develop. Check the underside of the sink; if the crack hasn't traveled through, then you're OK for now.
It might start to leak eventually. When you should change it depends on how often you can inspect the unit or how conscientious your tenants are. But then again it may never leak.
