Q: What’s a good way to go about finding an entry-level job?

Talk up the job search; don't just use the computer.

A: Here are three main things you should try:

1. Select the companies you are interested in working for and contact their HR department. Ask them if they have any entry-level positions and explain to them that you are willing to work your way up from the bottom. The biggest part of this is just knowing which companies you are interested in.

2. You can also look at job postings online — at your target companies’ websites or on sites liked Monster, CareerBuilder, Craigslist, and LinkedIn.

3. Definitely do some networking; talk to everyone you know about your job search.

(NOTE: The above steps also can help more experienced applicants who aren’t seeking an entry-level position.)
